One form of animal neglect is chaining them up and leaving them. For hours, poor dogs are kept in chains, some without food, water and a comfortable bed.
Recently, a woman saw a few dogs chained up outside a property in Miguel County, New Mexico. But instead of ignoring the poor chained dogs, she decided to call local rescuers. The rescuers quickly went on the property. They then brought the dogs to safety.
One of the rescued chained dogs was named Violet. Her thick chain was wrapped around her neck, and it stained her white fur. Her rescuers said that she was probably chained up her whole life.
When NMDOG, a charity that rescues dogs that needed rescuing most especially chained dogs, took her from her previous home, Violet was just 2 years old.
In the state of New Mexico, chaining up dogs is illegal. Because of that, the organisation has the right to take the dogs away.
According to the founder and director of NMDOG, Angela Stell, they were able to get someone on the property. They explained to the owners that chaining up dogs is illegal in their state.
But the rescuers discovered that the guardian of the dogs was imprisoned. The reason why the owner was jailed was not related to the chained dogs. Since he was not there on the property, the dogs were not being taken care of.
Nobody knew how long the dogs were left there, but we all know that these dogs were neglected and in desperate need of help.
Violet was examined. In the results, it is said that she suffered sunburns and parts of her flesh were eaten by maggots. But despite all that, she can recover fully.
At first, the poor dog was scared every time someone raised a hand for something. But her rescuers are patient with her. Sooner the dog started to trust people around her.
And finally, the dog fully recovered both physically and mentally. Who knew this dog could make everyone smile? One year after her rescue, Violent was adopted. Now she lives in a nice home with a nice family.
