This couple from Virginia must be fortunate! After all, winning a lottery is a sign of luck if you are going to ask me. But more than just being lucky, you can tell that they are very kind. I mean, after winning a $1 million lottery ticket, you can easily purchase so many things right away! But what did this couple do that made them generous, you ask? They donated $10,000 to help animals and staff at the Montgomery County Animal Shelter.
The couple preferred to remain anonymous, so we will respect that, but isn’t that amazing? The donors have supported the local shelter for years now and adopted three dogs from them. Donating to the top was a way to give back to its staff and residents.
$10,000 is more than enough to help the shelter improve and perform many essential operations. Montgomery County Animal Shelter’s director, Eileen Mahan, expressed her gratitude in an interview with WDBJ. Many things could be done with that amount, such as rehoming pets and performing surgeries, which can cost thousands of dollars.
They can also afford nutritious food, toys, blankets, staff costs, and even lower adoption fees, making adoption rates rise. Mahan’s top priority with the money is performing surgeries on their animals to get them ready for adoption.
2020 has been financially devastating for the shelter, and this donation turned their difficult situation upside-down. This indeed has been a large Christmas gift for the shelter. After all, donations to shelters and other charitable organizations dropped significantly in 2020.
This is the best thing the animals from the shelter could get, and the only thing that could be better than this is adoption. And that is now easier because adoption fees have lowered!
