Georgia, an Australian Shepherd mix, had a rough start in her life. The Sunshine Dog Rescue found Georgia at a gas station in Phoenix. The rescue noticed that Georgia was pregnant, but sadly she was not in good shape.

It was unclear whether Georgia was abandoned because she was pregnant, or for some other reason.

Knowing this, the rescue group rushed to save her as well as her unborn puppies. They brought the pregnant dog to the emergency c-section to deliver her puppies.

The vets were successful in giving birth to the puppies, but unfortunately, they all died as they were all born prematurely. The puppies’ early death caused Georgia to panic and left her heartbroken.

Georgia continuously tore through the sheets of her bed, looking for her puppies. She could not understand that her puppies were gone. The poor dog fell into depression.

The Executive Director of Sunshine Dog Rescue, Anita Osa, was extremely worried about the heartbroken mother and wanted to mend her broken heart. Osa reached out for help on the internet. She posted pictures of Georgia on Facebook.

She was looking for orphaned puppies who needed a mother. But she did not expect what she would find instead. Instead of finding orphaned puppies for the heartbroken mother, what she found was three orphaned kittens.

Though Osa was uncertain of what would happen, she was still willing to give it a try. After all, she had seen other species nurse another species. If it does not work for Georgia, Osa plans to take care of the three kittens.

Luckily, as soon as Georgia and the three kittens met, they instantly fell in love with each other. Georgia quickly became overprotective over the kittens. The three kittens healed the heart of the grieving mother.

Though Georgia’s breast milk was low, she still provided milk for her new babies. But Osa also has to bottle feed the kittens as Georgia’s milk alone was not enough.

With Georgia’s love and support, the three kittens grew healthy. Osa named the three kittens: Graffiti, Gumball, and Goober.

Currently, the family is staying at the rescue, but one of the kittens got adopted by Osa’s roommate. Georgia’s dad also renamed her Milo. Though one of the kittens was already adopted, Georgia still gets to see it grow as they still live in the same house.
