The winter is one of the if not the worst seasons for stray animals all over the world. In Quebec, a woman was enjoying her usual morning when she had an unexpected visitor. She saw a poor stray cat knocking at her door, begging to be let inside due to the cold weather.
For the woman, it was a sad thing to see an animal this desperate. The cat was fortunate as the woman she encountered was no stranger to cats. The woman is a volunteer at a cat rescue group called Un Chat à la Fois.
Though Un Chat à la Fois don’t usually take senior strays, they were convinced to make an exception for this stray. A few hours after taking him inside her house, she brought the cat to the shelter to be examined.
The woman could tell that this cat was desperate as he did not run away like other strays usually do. After the checkup, they found out that the cat was in a horrible condition. He has a lot of fleas and frostbites. More than that, he was covered in wounds, which probably resulted from street fights, and had diabetes and rotten teeth.
Had the woman ignored him, he would not have survived. The cat, despite his rough life, was very friendly to the clinic staff. He loved to be petted. After staying a few days in the clinic, his situation improved significantly. And was soon moved to a foster home.
There, they named him Aslan, after the lion from The Chronicles of Narnia. He was very lively and happy in his foster home. He also shares his foster home with his best friend, Cleo, another stray cat. When it was time for Aslan to find a forever home, their foster mom doesn’t know how he will be without Cleo. So she decided to keep them both!
