But how about apples? Can our dogs eat and digest apples without any negative effects in their health?

Apples are, without a doubt, healthy for us humans. But they are a great source of nutrients for animals too.

And, in fact, many dogs love apples. They are a great source for different nutrients for them such as Vitamin C, Calcium, Phosphorous and Fibers. Apples make a great snack for dogs. Especially during the summer season when they need every source of water they can get to stay properly hydrated and as cool as possible.

But Don’t Feed Your Dog The Whole Apple

However, do not just throw a whole apple to your dog and expect them to eat it as is. There are still safety precautions we need to take. Think of it as being similar to feeding an infant child.

Dogs should not be allowed to eat the seeds of apples, so be sure remove any seeds before sharing an apple with your doggo. Apple seeds contain cyanide which, as you may know, is a toxic substance. You should also remove the stem of the apple as well as the apple core. These parts of the apple can lead to your beloved pet choking.

Some Tips For Feeding Dogs Apples

One tip for you to make things easier and safe is you can just slice the apples into thin cuts to make them more edible and enjoyable.

For the summer, you can also freeze thinly-sliced apples and give them to your pets as snacks. These will help them cool down on a hot summer day. We all know how hot it can get under all those fur.

As previously mentioned, feeding your dogs apples should be done in moderation. As it is with us humans, eating and enjoying apple a little too much can cause stomach aches and diarrhea which are not good.

So, other than the few warnings mentioned above, you should have no reservations about sitting down with your pup and enjoying a nice, healthy apple together!
