Unlike us humans, our dogs don’t need to rely on fruits and vegetables to have a healthy and balanced diet. But occasionally it is good to give them a few servings of fruits and veggies to get their nutrients boosted.

The only difficult thing about feeding our dogs healthy stuff like vegetables and fruits is that it can be tough to tell which ones are good and which are bad for our dogs.

If you’re wondering about what you should and shouldn’t feed your dog, we’ve got a list of FAQs that pet owners ask that includes a number of articles on which foods are safe (and which ones are not safe) for dogs to eat.

And in this article, we’re going to take a look at celery and answer the question…

Can Dogs Eat Celery?

And the answer is YES – our beloved dogs can eat celery.

According to veterinarians, celery is safe for dogs and often used as a weight-loss treat for our furry friends. Celery is extremely low in fat and cholesterol. This means it helps manage our dog’s weight or, at least, not add to it.

Additionally, celery is also a great source of fiber and different vitamins such as Vitamin A, Vitamin K, Vitamin C, manganese, folate, and potassium. These are all beneficial to our furry friends if given as a healthy treat.

And It’s Good for Doggie Breath Too…

To add to those health benefits, you can also use celery to help freshen up your dog’s breath. Chewing through celery can clean your dog’s teeth, freshening up their breath in the process.

Remember, though, everything our dogs consume must be in moderation, so only give them celery as a treat. Or if celery is recommended by your veterinarian, give the right portion according to the recommendation.

Caution For Small Dogs Eating Celery

Also, if you have a small dog at home, be sure to cut the celery into bite-sized treats. This way, you will not be worried about it being a choking hazard.

And the first time you give your dog celery, introduce it to them slowly. Give one or two bites and see if they like it before giving them more.

Other than those words of caution, however, feel free to share some celery with your dog!
